Spider-Man: No Way Home stars Tom Holland, Zendaya and Jacob Batalon react to wild fan theories in a fun new video for the threequel. Development on the third installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise was planned back during Holland's first solo film, Spider-Man: Homecoming, though saw some initial hiccups in mid 2019 when Sony and Marvel Studios began renegotiating their shared deal for the webslinger and would ultimately part ways with one another. However, thanks to a drunken phone call from Holland and a negative fan reaction, Sony and Marvel would return to the table and hash out a new deal to benefit both parties, including the sharing of Holland's Spider-Man between the MCU and Sony's Spider-Man Universe.
Spider-Man: No Way Home marks another step forward in building the bridge between the two studios and universes as Holland's titular hero and Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange open the doors to the multiverse in order to restore his secret identity as Peter Parker. This in turn leads to the arrivals of Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin, Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus, Thomas Haden Church's Sandman, Rhys Ifans' Lizard and Jamie Foxx's Electro from the prior Spider-Man franchises. Additionally, the film will see the return of J.K. Simmons' J. Jonah Jameson after his surprise appearance in the Spider-Man: Far From Home mid-credits scene, and with just a week remaining until the film's arrival, audiences continue to throw out plenty of theories as to who else may appear.
As questions continue to build for the film, Sony has released a new video seeing Spider-Man: No Way Home stars Tom Holland, Zendaya and Jacob Batalon react to wild fan theories. The ideas thrown out in the video range from Doc Ock being the leader of a barren wasteland to Jamie Foxx returning as Electro, with the actor himself appearing to confirm as such. Check out the fun video below:
Given its multiverse story and returning stars, Spider-Man: No Way Home has already become one of the most talked-about superhero movies of the MCU and one with the most wild fan theories. As indicated by the video, some fan theories certainly appear too left field to be true, namely Doc Ock being the leader of refugees in a barren wasteland reality, while others fall closer in line to the truth, namely Foxx's return as Electro. Though his casting had been reported just prior to filming kicking off on the film, no proper confirmation of Electro being in Spider-Man: No Way Home was given until the film's second trailer revealed the star in a more comics-accurate appearance.
Two of the more notable Spider-Man: No Way Home fan theories mentioned in the video are the possibility of Batalon's Ned becoming the Hobgoblin and Charlie Cox returning as Daredevil to be Parker's lawyer. Holland and Batlon's reaction to the former does make for an interesting bit as they mention there being "a moment" of some kind in the film, while swiftly moving on from Daredevil's appearance, with Cox reportedly having filmed material for the threequel and Kevin Feige recently confirming him to be the MCU's blind lawyer. Only time will tell how the various fan theories shake out when Spider-Man: No Way Home hits theaters on December 17.
