Netflix: Best New TV Shows & Movies This Weekend (December 10)

This weekend, Netflix is welcoming a very special TV series, an animated movie, and a drama movie based on a British miniseries. Streaming platforms haven’t lost any force now that cinemas around the world are open and working again, and they continue to house movies that either skipped a theatrical release or got a limited one, and this week will be no exception over at Netflix. In addition to that, the streaming giant keeps adding new licensed and original content every week, so its subscribers will always have something to watch.

Last weekend, and as it does on the first days of every month, Netflix added a long list of licensed content, most notably the romantic movies Closer and Chocolat, the 1989 adaptation of Pet Sematary, the horror movies Final Destination 3 and 5, the drama Stepmom, the sci-fi movie Looper, and the western The Legend of Zorro, along with the final seasons of Lost in Space and Money Heist, the western drama The Power of the Dog, and the Holiday rom-com Single All The Way. This weekend won’t see a lot of licensed content, with the only additions being the Christian drama The Shack and the superhero drama Fast Color.

Voir is a TV series formed by video essays about cinema, executive produced by David Fincher and David Prior. Back to the Outback is an animated adventure comedy movie directed by Clare Knight and Harry Cripps. Tired of being locked in a reptile house where humans gawk at them like they’re monsters, a ragtag group of Australia’s deadliest creatures plot a daring escape from their zoo to the Outback, a place where they’ll fit in without being judged for their scales and fangs. Leading the group is Maddie (Isla Fisher), a poisonous snake with a heart of gold, who bands together with a self-assured Thorny Devil lizard Zoe (Miranda Tapsell), a lovelorn hairy spider Frank (Guy Pearce), and a sensitive scorpion Nigel (Angus Imrie). When their nemesis, Pretty Boy (Tim Minchin), a cute but obnoxious koala, unexpectedly joins their escape, Maddie and the gang have no choice but to take him with them.

The Unforgivable is a drama movie directed by Nora Fingscheidt and based on the 2009 British miniseries Unforgiven, by Sally Wainwright. The Unforgivable tells the story of Ruth Slater (Sandra Bullock), a woman who is released from prison after serving a sentence for a violent crime and re-enters a society that refuses to forgive her past. Also starring are Vincent D’Onofrio, Viola Davis, Jon Bernthal, Richard Thomas, and Kinda Emond. The Unforgivable got a limited release in November and is now available to stream for Netflix users.
