Star Wars Fan Creates Screen Accurate Boba Fett Helmet & Gauntlets

A tenacious Star Wars fan creates screen-accurate Boba Fett helmets and gauntlets based on the bounty hunter’s appearance in the original trilogy. While the character’s first on-screen appearance was technically in 1978's Star Wars Holiday Special, Boba’s first big-screen appearance came in The Empire Strikes Back (1980), in which he was portrayed by Jeremy Bulloch and voiced by Jason Wingreen. Despite his limited screen time, the fact audiences never saw his face, and his untimely demise in Return of the Jedi (1983), Boba has become one of the most popular Star Wars characters of all time.

The prequel film, Attack of the Clones (2002), revealed Boba (Daniel Logan) to be a genetic clone and adoptive son of Jango Fett (Temuera Morrison), also a bounty hunter who possessed the former’s iconic armor long before he became green and rustic. Even after his brief appearance in the prequel, fans craved more Boba and, after many scrapped attempts at a solo film, he was finally resurrected in Disney+’s The Mandalorian with Morrison in the role thanks to a subplot involving his long-lost helmet and armor.

Artist, modelmaker, and painter Blaidon Props on Instagram recently shared photos of replicates inspired by Boba’s armor. The posts outline the truly impressive amount of work being done to re-create the character’s helmet and gauntlets—fully-equipped with darts—from the original trilogy. Check it out below:

Nothing will beat the nostalgia associated with Boba's rustic armor. That being said, Lucasfilm and Disney have already upgraded it quite a bit. After Boba made his triumphant, action-packed, and helmeted return in The Mandalorian’s “Chapter 14: The Tragedy,” Boba immediately cleaned and refurbished his armor in the next episode. At the end of The Mandalorian season 2, a post-credits scene saw Boba kill Bib Fortuna and take over Jabba's Palace. Now, the spin-off The Book of Boba Fett is set to release on December 29, 2021, on Disney+.

No longer employed by the Galactic Empire and far from serving the late Jabba the Hutt, The Book of Boba Fett will follow its anti-hero as he fights for control of the Hutt’s old territory on Tatooine. As seen in the trailer and other promotional images, Boba will be aided in his struggle to build an empire by fine-tuned armor and a slew of new toys. Thanks to the fandom’s reverence for the character, Boba’s upcoming series is arguably the most anticipated in Disney/Lucasfilm’s jam-packed slate of shows including Obi-Wan KenobiAndor, and Ahsoka. If you need proof of this love for Boba, look no further than the time and effort Blaidon Props has devoted to him.
